Queens NYC has blogged about an unusual walking tour that took place this past Saturday. Led by Mitch Waxman, the Obscura Society of New York City tour examined the environmental effects of Greenpoint’s industrial history. (Waxman publishes The Newtown Pentacle and is active with the Newtown Creek Alliance.) The two-mile tour covered yesterday’s oil spills, today’s cleanup efforts and recycling plants. The tour ended in McGolrick Park, a leafy oasis.
