Here’s something of a novelty: Potentially dangerous stuff falling off a building that doesn’t seem related to shoddy or unsafe conditions at a construction site. A small part of the façade of a building on 5th Avenue near Carroll Street crumbled last night (see photo on jump), leaving a big pile of rubble on the sidewalk. According to some bystanders who were on the scene this morning, the collapse happened at around 2 a.m., and no one was injured. In the meantime, cops have taped off the sidewalk around the debris and told us they’re waiting for the DOB to inspect the building and decide whether it needs to be vacated. GMAP

  1. how does a shoe repair store ever stay in business? What a pointless business.

who gives a shit if its been there for decades. Its like being happy a wagon wheel repair company is still open.

  2. Hear, hear, Marlon!

It matters not if the business is “good,” or “friendly,” or “well-stocked,” or any other value so highly prized by yuppies with no sense of local history. They are local, and therefore deserve support!

Anyone can succeed with a “good” business that provides “value” or “service.” But what of the people who cannot do that? They deserve to make a living too!
