The Brooklyn Beat Festival — a celebration of theater, dance and voice in the borough — is returning for its second year. The festival features Brooklyn’s best performing artists in Brooklyn venues. For 2013, the festival will team up with the Brooklyn Museum, which will host the opening event on September 12. The remaining four venues, as well as a final roster of artists, tickets and schedule, will be announced on July 12. That’s also when tickets to the festival will be available. While the actual event is a few months away, a 36-hour performance piece involving hundreds of Brooklynites still needs participants for the festival. If you are interested in taking part in this immersive performance, the theater group is taking applications until April 15. Sigh up here.
