Wow – I graduated from FDR in 1979, wondering if any of the people in those pictures chased me home from school. I was a black girl that was bused in for a better education opportunity……..
They look exactly like the kids in my high school – same time frame. The platform shoes, the bell bottom jeans. Just missing candies and jordache – maybe that was a little later? I remember those bomber jackets the guys wore.

everything’s better in b&w
funny that those who will love these pics the most either 1) never lived in that era and/or b) wouldn’t have been caught dead in these types of neighborhoods
Amazing, historic daguerreotypes from a distant, bygone era.

Brooklyn was situated at a rather low point in the nation’s anatomy back then.
great stuff. these pictures would make a nice book.
these are great
This is the world from whence I came!!! My wife is probably in that shot of FDR High School’s lunch room – she graduated in 1975, as a matter of fact.
