When demolition began at the Williamsburg Salvation Army at the busy corner of Bedford Avenue and North Seventh Street last month, it was unclear if the Salvation Army, who owns the building, would remain on site or if it would lease out the new space. DOB permits indicated that a new two-story building was planned in place of the old brick one. Well, DNAinfo uncovered the answer yesterday. According to the publication, “Salvation Army’s brand new two-story edifice with 10,000 square feet of shopping space is slated to open by next spring.” The Salvation Army will use both floors for clothing and other goods and is aiming for a “department store feel” in the new build. Well, at least the artists and hipsters will have one place in shop in a neighborhood mostly filled with fancy boutiques!
