Brooklyn Has More Farms Than Other Boros [NY Daily News]
Tis a sad day, lechacal, when your provocateur skills aren’t fully recognized. 🙁
You’re learning, fuplease. Slowly, but you are learning.
You’re clearly one of the “others”. I can’t be expected to give a shout out to everyone in under 50 words. They needed the recognition more than you, because you made the first and last provocative comments in the thread and so were very visible.
“3. *rob* and DIBS and others like to play the role of “provocateur.””
AND ME!!!!!! WHAT ABOUT ME??!??!?!? HELLO?!?!??!!
“So, let’s make this a teachable moment…..If everyone’s ok with that and plans accordingly, then I guess it all works fine.”
Snort!
So, let’s make this a teachable moment. To summarize what we’ve learned today:
1. The primary purpose of these threads is to provoke.
2. The threads therefore don’t have to relate in any rational way to the original post.
3. *rob* and DIBS and others like to play the role of “provocateur.”
4. Other commenters like to get riled up by the actions of the provocateurs.
5. If you don’t like to provoke or be provoked, you should find another venue.
6. Comments and commenters should not be taken at face value.
If everyone’s ok with that and plans accordingly, then I guess it all works fine.
All the people who are getting up in arms about all the people who are getting up in arms are totally missing the reason why people were getting up in arms in the first place.
Don’t say you do “farming” in brooklyn, cause you don’t. You might have a cash garden, and that’s cute and fine and whatever, but you are not a farmer.
That’s all.
no one bashed her or her garden bxgirl, people were just poking fun at the urban farmer crap and all the ridiculousness that goes into that. of course it’s great she is providing produce to people in her neighborhood, that is NOT what people were making fun of.
*rob*
Agree, mopar.
“”We aren’t here for the trendy residents,” said farm manager Kendall Morrison, 47, of Bushwick. “We’re here for the neighborhood folks.”
Frankly I don’t see where she said anything offensive. All she was saying is that they started this Secret Garden farm, not because it was trendy but because it was something long time residents wanted. It’s a great idea so why everyone is all up in arms is plain silly. Bushwick, like a lot of other poorer neighborhoods, don’t have good fresh produce, or trendy farmers markets. So these people did it themselves- and the article was positive. Certainly not deserving of the bashing they got.
