The Brooklyn Collection is reaching deep into their archival drawers to pull out some celluloid treats this week.

In honor of New York Archives Week, the Brooklyn Collection at Brooklyn Public Library will be hosting a screening of clips and shorts from five New York-themed 1970s and 1980s films. Included will be “Digging for Black Pride” from 1971, “Coney” from 1975 and “Trinidad in Brooklyn” from 1985.

The evening of films takes place on Wednesday, October 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m at Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza. Things kick off with a small reception, followed by the viewing. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.

New York Archive Week itself runs from October 17 to 24 with archival institutions from across the state hosting lectures, open houses and tours to celebrate the wealth of materials that enrich our understanding of New York history.
