Crown Heights Affordable Housing Lottery Debuts With $1,161 Two-Bedrooms
An affordable housing lottery has launched for an under-construction 17-story, 569-unit development dubbed Loden, with units starting at $914 a month for a studio. Rising half a block from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Crown Heights south, and overlooking the S shuttle train tracks, the complex at 54 Crown Street and 131 Montgomery Street takes up about half the block between Washington and Franklin avenues and Crown and Montgomery streets.

Downtown Brooklyn Macy’s to Close Soon, Retailer Confirms
Macy’s is closing two Brooklyn locations as part of a cost-cutting initiative that will shutter 66 stores nationwide this year, the retail giant said.
The closures include Macy’s flagship store on Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn and the Macy’s Backstage location in Sheepshead Bay. They are among five New York City locations identified as “unproductive” and set to close during the first quarter of this year.

East New York Affordable Housing Lottery Opens With $994 Units
An affordable housing lottery has opened for 68 apartments in a 100 percent affordable development that spans a block along Atlantic Avenue in East New York.
The one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments at 265 Logan Street, dubbed The Logan Fountain, are aimed at households earning between 40 percent and 70 percent of Area Median Income, a truly affordable range compared to the majority of the units offered in the city’s housing lottery system. The level of affordability is due to a private and nonprofit development partnership making use of federal, state, and city programs that fund housing construction for very low income families.
