Celebrate twenty years of music and the work of black artists with a night of performances from Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber at the Brooklyn Museum.

Billed as a special concert in conjunction with the exhibition “Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power,” the music-filled evening will include Black Power anthems and experimental works.

Founded in 1999, Burnt Sugar brings its improvisational mix to the museum for a performance they are calling “NOTHING IS: How Sun Ra, Amiri Baraka, and Octavia Butler Supercharged the Black Arts With Post-Apocalyptic Cosmic Consciousness.” Participating musicians include Shelley Nicole, Bazaar Royale, Mazz Swift, Vijay Iyer, Ben Tyree and LaFrae Sci. After the music, musician Greg Tate, the founding member of the group, will moderate a discussion.
