We can’t seem to buy any sunshine at The Flea, but there’s a ton of things you can buy from the 175-odd vendors who set up every weekend in the 40,000-square-foot school yard at the Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene. Last weekend saw the arrival of a ton of new furniture dealers (see above); this weekend there’s a whole ‘nuther wave of vendors (including A&J 20th Century Design, formerly of Lafayette Street in Manhattan!). For more details check out
yesterday’s post on the Brooklyn Flea blog. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 176 Lafayette Avenue. Closet trains are the C and G to Washington/Clinton. Or you can take any of the number of trains that go to Atlantic Station and make the 10-minute stroll up Lafayette Avenue from there.
UPDATE: Despite the morning rain, about 80% of the vendors are set up and open for business today. Come check it out!

  1. no dogs. I agree with the peeing on the sofa and some people may want to “shop” with out your dog sniffing at us or getting tangled in your unruly leash holding. Leave your dog tied to the fence post. or at home. And on the “small dogs” comment- I am really tired of the fashion dogs (ie small) going everywhere. please no dogs. why is that so hard for dog owners to understand- maybe the rest of us don’t love your dog like you. you made the choice to have one- you knew the rules. And I like dogs.

  2. Mr. B – couldn’t you let those of us with small dogs bring them into the flea if we carry them? I would be much more inclined to visit and patronize the vendors if I could take my dog on a long Sunday morning walk to get there. Otherwise, it’s pretty much a waste.

  3. That’s not the issuer 2:33. It’s the pretense of good will that bothers me; I can deal with stated agendas.

What is the pretense of good will, I don’t think they have claimed to be doing some charitable work by having a flea market.

pretense of good will, that is more like the AY project.

If Brownstoner simply had people state their name, and address, email, chances are the crazed hate mongers on this blog, would drop considerably, and the posters would crawl back in to their anonymous holes.
