As The Times reported this morning, the City Parks Foundation has given the nod to The Brooklyn Flea to remake the culinary landscape at its popular Central Park SummerStage concert series. The line-up this season will include Flea favorites Asia Dog, the Red Hook Lobster Pound, Pizza Moto as well as one of the Red Hook Food Vendors. There will also be one new vendor in the mix, as the folks behind the Williamsburg insitutions Diner and Marlow & Sons roll out their new line of “coarse-grind pork sausages” from their butcher shop Marlow & Daughters. In addition, we expect to have a new assortment of beers befitting the range of high-quality local food choices. Good times! (For the record, today’s Times article had an error about the regular Flea season: As we reported yesterday, starting April 10, the Flea will move back outdoors in Fort Greene on Saturdays and remain in the Williamsburgh Bank Building on Sundays.)

  1. I will support this as long as there’s enough good food left for Brooklyn! I would hate to see some of the vendors start forgoing the Flea(s) because they are doing the concerts in –gasp–Manhattan! But I wouldn’t really blame them, since the crowds in Central Park can be huge. What about Celebrate Brooklyn!–don’t they need some food love too?
