Brooklyn Bridge Park Seeks Restaurateurs

Wouldn’t it be nice to sit on an outdoor terrace at the end of Atlantic Avenue overlooking the East River and Manhattan and order something to eat or drink? Brooklyn Bridge Park thinks so, and last week requested proposals for a restaurant there and also in the Smokestack Building at the corner of Water and Old Fulton streets in Dumbo. The Pier 6 plans include a 2,000 square-foot indoor restaurant, a 1,200 square-foot adjacent outdoor terrace, and a 2,800-square-foot rooftop seating area. The building is clad in salvaged long-leaf yellow pine wood and contains public restrooms, noted BBP. “BBP is seeking inventive and creative proposals from quality operators with solid backgrounds in the food service industry,” said a press release from the group. Other park concessions include Ditch Plains Drop-In, Bark Hot Dogs, Uncle Louie G’s, Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar and Blue Marble Ice Cream. Proposals are due in early December. Above, one of the outdoor restaurant spaces at Pier 6. After the jump, the Smokestack Building.
