Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

The freakishly warm weather may have kept the cold out of Brooklyn’s bones for a time, but now that the snow is once again threatening, come chase away the (impending) winter blues at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Licensed psychotherapist and longtime Brooklyn Botanic Garden guide Lynne Spevack, LCSW, will take anyone feeling, or anticipating, some seasonal sadness on a narrated walk specifically created to cure the doldrums that come when the sun goes away.

A walk through the Botanic Garden’s greenery will counteract the bummer vibes, according to Spevack, who finds that the overindulgence of the holidays can be soothed by deciduous trees and their subtle winter beauty.

In particular, Spevack’s January tour focuses on the sights and sounds of the Botanic Garden in winter. She will show attendees how to channel feelings of virtuosity from the fresh air into the fulfillment of their New Years resolutions.

The tour is free with Garden admission and reservations are not required. To join, meet at Magnolia Plaza on January 3 at noon. The tour lasts an hour and will be held in rain or shine.

For a fee, private group tours can also be scheduled. For more information, visit the BBG’s website.
