BHcrapper.jpgThe residents of Boerum Hill have been contending with an unpleasant quality of life problem recently—someone’s been crapping on the sidewalks and in people’s front yards with increasing regularity. Last Tuesday, The Daily News devoted an entire article to the issue, with Sue Wolfe, president of the Boerum Hill Association, confirming, “It’s a big problem – it’s gotten worse over the years and much worse recently.” Certain clues, most notably the location of the evidence and the presence of tissue paper, had convinced residents that the perpetrator had two legs instead of four but no one had caught the person in the act. Until yesterday. Here it is from the horse’s mouth:

For the second time in two weeks I got pooped on. This time I saw her. I live on Dean Street between Hoyt and Bond. At 6 a.m. this morning my wife heard…well peeing…she woke me up and I went to the door. We live in the garden apartment so I looked up…and saw butt – thus I yelled…”HEY MOVE YOUR ASS!!!!” This was the first time in my life that I literally meant it.

After the pooping I threw on some clothes and set out to find the poopertrator. I did not find her. But my wife did hear the woman outside while I scrambled for my clothes, she did not run, just kept talking to herself. It turns out that the infamous stoop pooper is a clearly rather mentally ill black woman with very short dreds.

It actually sounds a lot like the woman who we found giving herself a makeshift bath in the doorway of our ground floor during our renovations a couple of years ago. Does this description match with any other sightings?

  1. Adult Protective Svcs may be able to help her if she wants to be helped. But if you’re ever dealing with a truly lunatic tenant (as I once was), do not, repeat, do not, call them. If they show up and determine said tenant is in need of their aid, you may never be able to get rid of them, lease or no lease…and when said tenant screams obscenities at the top of her lungs all night keeping you and all your neighbors awake in addition to stalking and threatening you on the street (and declaring she’ll blow up your house), your sympathy with the mentally ill homeless will start wearing pretty thin.

  2. It’s true that deinstitutionalization was terribly implemented (for the most part it was good to get people out of hospitals, but bad not to provide extensive community support).

However, the situation is much improved today. Not that there isn’t further to go, but a series of city-state agreements to create supportive housing for people with serious and persistent mental illness has helped get a lot of homeless mentally ill people off the streets.

  3. There are a couple of crackwhores who are subletting a place on Dean Street right between Hoyt and Bond street. One I saw (never touched) was 22 but looked “broke” and she lives with a Scottish guy. She lists herself on Craigslist Erotic Services as Cate or Katie or Catie or Kate from Boerum Hill. Claims to be from New Jersey and worked at some place across from Trump Casino. Neighborhood folks had better find out where exactly they are and kick their whitetrash ass out.

  4. Saw a woman of this description poop in Ft. Greene behind BAM last year. I was sitting on the steps of my building and she dropped her pants right in front of me and pooped between two cars. I was frozen in disbelief.

A little girl walked by and screamed as she was finishing and the pooper ran off without wiping. Only in NYC. Hope she is ok and gets help. The imaqe is burned in my brain.
