The residents of Boerum Hill have been contending with an unpleasant quality of life problem recentlysomeone’s been crapping on the sidewalks and in people’s front yards with increasing regularity. Last Tuesday, The Daily News devoted an entire article to the issue, with Sue Wolfe, president of the Boerum Hill Association, confirming, “It’s a big problem – it’s gotten worse over the years and much worse recently.” Certain clues, most notably the location of the evidence and the presence of tissue paper, had convinced residents that the perpetrator had two legs instead of four but no one had caught the person in the act. Until yesterday. Here it is from the horse’s mouth:
For the second time in two weeks I got pooped on. This time I saw her. I live on Dean Street between Hoyt and Bond. At 6 a.m. this morning my wife heard…well peeing…she woke me up and I went to the door. We live in the garden apartment so I looked up…and saw butt – thus I yelled…”HEY MOVE YOUR ASS!!!!” This was the first time in my life that I literally meant it.
After the pooping I threw on some clothes and set out to find the poopertrator. I did not find her. But my wife did hear the woman outside while I scrambled for my clothes, she did not run, just kept talking to herself. It turns out that the infamous stoop pooper is a clearly rather mentally ill black woman with very short dreds.
It actually sounds a lot like the woman who we found giving herself a makeshift bath in the doorway of our ground floor during our renovations a couple of years ago. Does this description match with any other sightings?

Heath and Michelle should host a anti poop dinner function at their home complete with Frank Zane and Atlantic Yard Opponents.
Oh and Maggie Gylenhall can be the their to host as well.
How is Sue Wolf going to promote her neighborhood now?
I can’t believe I’m being scolded for defending the dignity of a homeless person and in a blog argument with people about whether it’s bad to make fun of this woman pooping on stoops. And then being scolded for calling people on this blog posting ‘callous’ (OK, I could have done without the expletive…I’ll give you that).
I’ve seen human poop many times in my 12 years here. Get over it.

Stop being such wimps. In fact, I’ll call them and send them this posting as reference.
I have a theory that every new yorker has one date with adult human feces. it’s like jury duty. if you’ve had your encounter, consider yourself lucky.
I had mine in the early 90’s. I was catsitting for a friend. I had to use their spatula to clean the step to their basement apartment, then throw away the spatula.
I blame the scourge of crack cocaine.

I live on Dean between Smith and Hoyt and recently saw a woman in a nice-ish car with the door (and her enormous a**) wide open at the curb in the middle of the afternoon. I just took it as a special New York moment, averted my eyes, and walked on. I do remember seeing toilet paper though.
Often times when the police intercede, if the person deemed an EDP (Emotionally Disturbed Person) becomes boisterous or “out of control” they are then arrested. Several have even been killed! Remember Eleanor Bumpers and the Orthodox Jewish man in Bay Ridge. Although officers receive training, they are not mental health professionals and the New York City Department of Correction has become the new Mental Institution. It is now required that every Correction Officer take 40 hours of Mental Health Training with a yearly recertification. But when you mix the volatile personalities of the mentally ill and the sociopaths who commit real crimes together in close quarters you have a mix that is dangerous for both the staff and the inmates many of whom are just mentally ill.
Welcome to Brooklyn, Hipsters and Yuppies!!
if you call the local precinct they should have a relationship with the homeless outreach organization in the area that has a city contract to deal with situations like these (mental illness, not excessive poop) and other issues that long term homeless people frequently have. (sorry don’t know for boerum hill, live in prospect heights) the work they do will not interfere with anything in the official-type way that despina raises. additionally, generally (i went out to observe “rounds” with one in manhattan and spoke to many of them for some research i was doing)they actually take the time to get to know and build trust with all of the homeless people on their route. this makes them much more successful in terms of homeless people wanting to get off the street and access services. realistically, though, it takes time. who knows, but, its worth a try.
on a less serious note, she seems to be full of sh#@. who poops that much?!? get her some immodium.
i’ll bet it is far more inconvenient for the one pooing on the sidewalk than for the one merely watching it.
