After splitting with long-time partner Matthew Barney in 2013, Björk — the celebrated Icelandic musician and performance artist — remained in their expansive Brooklyn Heights penthouse.

Björk finally bought Barney out of his share in the home on December 22, paying him $1,611,325, according to public records.

Björk and Barney moved to the Heights in September of 2009, paying $4,000,000 for a 3,000-square-foot four-bedroom co-op unit on Henry Street.

Five years later, amidst rumors of a separation, Barney — an internationally renowned artist — bought a landmarked wood frame town house in Fort Greene for $1,990,000. Based on a September photo from PropertyShark, the home’s Permastone facade is still there, but Barney painted it blue.

The blue paint is an improvement, but we’re not sure it’s allowed under Landmark rules. Maybe Barney will put some of his new cash into an exterior restoration?
