We’ve never had a local Chinese spot that was worth raving about, but we recently had some above-average take-out from Lichee Nut a Brooklyn Heights spot with a wide delivery radius. We didn’t order anything too adventurous on the first time around, but we were very satisfied with what we got the sesame chicken wasn’t gristly; the peanut noodles were served in a very generous portion for only $3.50; and the Szechuan veggie dumplings with hot sesame sauce were downright delicious. It got us wondering what are everybody’s favorite Chinese take-out joints in Brooklyn? And if we’re going to make a trip to Brooklyn’s Chinatown, what are the best eats there?

Recently moved from D/T BK to Ft Greene, Lichee Nut was my go to spot for decent Chinese but they don’t come to Ft. Greene. After a few terrible attempts from places around the way, finally tried Kum Kau for the 1st time Saturday, well worth the 10 minute walk (no delivery). Also, Mr Wonton in Park Slope seems solid.

There does not exist decent Chinese food in Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, or Cobble Hill. Go to Sunset Park, or trek into the city.
“the chinese spot” (name unimportant) across the street from the pjs and the classon av g. looks vile. is probably filthy. but makes a mean black bean sauce.
In Park Slope, it’s definitely Red Hot.
Peking Authentic Chinese Kitchen – 3790 Nostrand Avenue.
Between Avenues Y & Z across from Pathmark.
I have had Chinese food in every neighborhood in Brooklyn. I have not found one that has food this good.
The owner/chef is a multiple award winner. Prices are on par with every other take out.
Go Kum Kau. They stayed open and cooke din the dark during the blackout and they have their own children’s book “Big Jimmy’s Kum Kau Chinese Take Out”.
What tex-mex spot is not run by chinese people.
