Streetlevel: Atlantic Ave Yoga Shop Saying Goodbye
Omala, the yoga boutique that opened on Atlantic Avenue in 2007, is calling it quits in late February. The store’s merchandise will be on sale until then. Its owner says she’s closing because she didn’t get enough foot traffic; the store’s goods will still be available via mail-order through Omala’s website after the shop closes….

My friend was just asking me the other day where I bought my cork yoga block. I couldn’t remember the name of the store, just that it was on Atlantic. They used to do workshops here also. Seemed like an iffy location to me too and I wondered if they would stay in business. They would probably do better on a more well-trafficked stretch like Smith or 5th Ave. I wish them well.
That photo reminds me I haven’t been to that yarn shop next door for ages and keep meaning to get over there.
“How is Target more local than a mom and pop yoga store?”
Depends on where you live 🙂
All I know is that the $75 yoga pants better not be made in China! When all the shit is, then may as well shop in Target.
Well, I’m unemployed, so I have to care more about price. Maybe once I’ve got an income again, I’ll sing a new song!
These days for me, shopping local is far more important than price.
To each his/her own.
These days getting something for a lower price is far more important than shopping local. I proudly used my Mom’s Sam’s Club membership number to order 100 garbage bags for $14 including shipping. YEAH!
How is Target more local than a mom and pop yoga store?
Rob, I refuse to abbreviate, I laughed out loud.
Beyond not needing all of the goods period, who wants to pay $60 for a tank top and $70 for spandex pants? Just go to Target or Modell’s and buy these for $15 a piece. Shop Local!
