At this week’s CB2 Transportation Meeting, Chris Hrones from DOT updated the committee on the construction happening at the BQE on-ramp on Atlantic Avenue near Pier Six. The project is now in “full construction mode,” according to Hrones. You can read about the whole proposal here, but the work basically includes two new concrete islands, (one of which is in the middle of the crosswalk to reduce pedestrian crossing time, the other to protect against illegal left turns from Atlantic onto the ramp), new street striping (to keep cars from cutting into the entrance ramp lane), and new signal phasing. One median has been constructed, the other is under construction. The new signal timing is coming soon.
