Yesterday Almondine reopened at 85 Water Street after shuttering due to Hurricane Sandy. It’s a soft opening, though, and as Eater reported yesterday, the storefront currently serves a limited selection of baked goods. The owner Hervé Poussot needed $150,000 to rebuild the store, which was badly damaged by flooding. He held a few fundraisers in which he raised $35,000. Poussot also had to close his South Slope bakery outpost in January. It is fantastic news to have this staple back in Dumbo, though.
