Get a Taste of Alamo Drafthouse With Three Free Interactive Film Screenings in Fort Greene Park
Before its new theater opens in Downtown Brooklyn, the Austin-based dinner-and-a-movie chain will show three films for free at Fort Greene Park — though with the encouraged crowd participation, they sound more like movie-based parties.

Alamo Drafthouse is coming to Brooklyn in more ways than one this summer, as the Austin-based dinner-and-a-movie chain will not only open its doors at Downtown Brooklyn’s City Point soon, but it will also host a series of free outdoor movie screenings in Fort Greene Park.
There will be three screenings total — though with the encouraged crowd participation, they sound more like film-based parties. While we don’t think there will be food accompanying the series, as there is at the theater’s brick-and-mortar locations, it should be a good taste of what’s to come with the Drafthouse here in Brooklyn.
The first screening takes place this Friday, May 27, with Christopher Guest’s Best in Show mockumentary, to which attendees are encouraged to BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog).
Next up, on June 3, there will be a sing-along to the late, great David Bowie’s cult ’80s musical Labyrinth.
Lastly, Finding Nemo will show on June 10, days before the theatrical release of its sequel, Finding Dory. Moviegoers are encouraged to wear costumes, and according to Indiewire there is going to be some kind of surprise at this one.
All the screenings will start at sunset. Fort Greene Park is located between Myrtle and Dekalb avenues.
