Panera Coming to Downtown Brooklyn

In another big coup for Downtown Brooklyn (hello, Shake Shack), the popular (over 1,400 outlets around the country) soup-and-sandwich restaurant Panera will be setting up shop at 345 Adams Street, reports The Brooklyn Eagle; this is the first lease signed by Muss Development since it took over and began repositioning the first two floors of the city office building. While the move solidifies the trend of upscale chains putting down roots in the Fulton Mall area, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise: We had hints about this last year and even predicted the tenant would be a Panera as recently as August. Update: Crain’s also has a story up now along with a higher-res rendering. Check it out here.
Panera Bread Coming to Adams Street [Brooklyn Eagle] GMAP
DIBs is right. Whenever I am pondering what I want for lunch, the company’s stock performance is the first thing I think about in order to make an informed decision.
Both Chipotle and panera have been two of the hottest stocks over the past two years. Never dismiss an investment just because you think the product is not to your liking!!!!
Yeah, it’s not _crap_. Agreed, though, this is underwhelming as there are plenty of good sandwich places in NYC.
Panera’s more for roadtrips out of town, when you want something you know will be quick and decent, if not totally thrilling.
That said, I haven’t been in over a year, but the egg sandwich they offered for breakfast about 1-2 yrs ago was one of the best I’ve every had from a fast food joint. Asiago bread, quality cheese, and fresh eggs. On par with (perhaps even better than…) high-falutin’ egg sandwiches from places like Prime Meats and Clover Club for a fraction of the cost. Yum; hope they still have it!
I disagree that it’s total crap. It’s OK. I’ve only been once, in Pittsfield MA, and had a pleasant lunch. But do we need this in Brooklyn?? In any case it will probably be as mobbed at lunch as the Chipotle on Montague is.
Why does this blog cheerlead for crappy fast food chain restaurants?
When Muss bought the lower two floors of 345 Adams, it framed the retail development there as a synergy with the hotel it owns next door. Morton’s does; Panera not so much.
i’m having serious deja vu with this thread….
are both spaces rented?
