If you’ve wandered down Van Dyke Street in Red Hook recently, you may have been struck by and unusual-looking structure rising on a vacant lot between Van Brunt and Richards. The partially-built wooden frame house looks better suited to the tropics than northern climesbecause it is. Turns out a Brooklyn-based company called Natura decided to do dry run on their home turf for a 200-unit “eco-lux” development that it will soon begin erecting in Costa Rica’s Osa Province; the concept is to create a “sustainable” community with virtually no harmful effects on the environment.
