The fate of the empty lot at 86 Lefferts Place may soon come to light: a sale for the lot hit public records with a price tag of $3.4 million. (A reader recently noticed soil testing at the site.) It now belongs to “Lefferts Townhouses LLC,” with an address listed at 936 Fulton Street. That points to Ore International, the development company responsible for the 936 Fulton Street condo project, as well as other housing developments in Brooklyn. No one at the firm returned a call on the matter. The architecture firm Grasso-Menziuso Architects did apply to the DOB in May to subdivide the existing lot into eight new tax lots and eight zoning lots, but the DOB disapproved the plans. Development on this lot was under contention back in 2009 when the owner tried to rezone for a low-income independent living facility for seniors. It does not look like the big yellow house at 70 Lefferts Place, which recently sold for the low sum of $515,000 to an entity called CW LLC, is under the same ownership as 86 Lefferts. And although 96 Lefferts was recently demolished, it appears that lot is under different ownership as well.
