30 chester court prospect lefferts gardens 82014

We drooled over 30 Chester Court when it was for sale. Now the house is back on the market as a rental, and we’re pleased to report the owners have done a great job with the renovation. The teens Tudor Revival still has all its incredible original features, including a parlor window seat, coffered ceiling and paneling in the dining room, leaded glass windows, and bead board ceiling in the sleeping porch.

The kitchen has been nicely updated, but we don’t know how the baths fared since they aren’t pictured. It has four bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and three floors plus the basement and backyard. One caveat: There is no bath on the top bedroom floor.

With an ask of $4,200 a month, we think it’s one of the better deals for a whole-house rental we’ve seen lately. What do you think?

  1. All that interest in this house, and it goes for 50k over ask, presumably with many bids, and they just rent it out? It’s their house, they can do what they want, but it seems somewhat unfair.
Maybe they lived their for a few months and decided they didn’t like the construction noise.

  2. Yes, true, those are all good points. But then wouldn’t this be a restricted rental, with terms only for a short term lease?
There is also the Dixon model of buying houses to rent out as grand single families. It just seems like a lot of trouble for an investor.
I’ve been house hunting in this price range and area, bidding, and losing, so I suppose I take it personally.
Why is this house listed as a 3 family on Streeteasy? Was it converted back to 1?
