From the Forum: Prepping a Roof for Solar Panel Installation

A homeowner has gotten three bids for resurfacing their roof and all suggest using a different material. They are prepping the roof for the installation of solar panels and are wondering about the pros and cons of the different materials, like a silicone membrane versus bitumen roofing. What have other homeowners used?
