From the Forum: Will an Unstable Staircase Deter Buyers?
Should a homeowner repair a deteriorating staircase before putting a house on the market?
A reader is wondering whether they should repair an interior staircase before selling their Carroll Gardens home. The house was gut renovated several decades ago and the staircase is now pulling away from the wall. The weak condition is noticeable when walking on the stairs. The homeowner is unsure if this might deter potential buyers. Should they repair or replace the stairs or leave it up to the next buyer?
Please chime in with any advice.
