Sections of an interior brick basement wall need repointing and a homeowner is wondering what type of mortar to use for the work. The project is a small one, so the owner of the early 20th century house is hoping to tackle it themselves with a bit of advice. They know not to use a hard mortar, but have been getting conflicting answers on what is the correct mix.

Please chime in with your advice.
