Where It's At? 1016 on a Greenpoint Street
It took until about 4 o’clock in the afternoon yesterday, but a reader did finally identify the right location of the mystery house. It’s 1061 Lorimer Street between Meserole and Norman. Don’t get any ideas though: The same family has owned it for more than 35 years. Where It’s At? [Brownstoner] GMAP P*Shark

Yes it’s so 1920’s. The old neighborhoods in L.A. (more specifically eastside Hollywood nabes) have some tudor and brick cottages and apartment buildings like this. With a fantastical approach to the design. The inside details are usually really great in these buildings too. Like in Hollywood I’ve seen nooks in a wall with stained glass windows you put a light behind, and built-in shelves and drawers, and exposed beamed ceilings, and pictoral tiles around the fireplace, and so on.
this one is on Lorimer. the other is on Leonard.
greenpoint ave, right? there is no greenpoint street.
BTW, there a more houses like that one. one of ’em is on lorimer.
I know the people who live there. It’s a great house inside – there are 2 units, and the upstairs unit is a duplex. It has great light, lots of room. Wish I lived there.
this house looks really small
I like it.
ugly crap it isnt a brownstone
Aww, that’s my old block. I used to love walking past that house every day. It’s kind of a magic wood-elf lookin’ place up close.
How cute. What a shame it is next to such two ugly sisters.
