According to The Daily News, a new French program at a local PS 58 along with the thriving food scene has made Smith Street and environs ground zero for the more than 20,000 French folks who now call Brooklyn home. “They used to speak Italian here,” joked real estate broker Nicole Galluccio. “Now they speak French.”
stefpix, carroll gardens has a reputation as being a ‘red sauce’ italian-american neighborhood…’Bada Bing’ was the name of the go-go bar on The Sopranos (which, for better or worse, is currently America’s most famous Italian-American TV family.)
I am Italian –
Have been living in NY since 2000.
I have no idea of what “Bada Bing” mean –
will google that.
The Italian equivalent of “bonjour” is “buongiorno” – but in a slightly more formal way.
Most people would say “ciao”.
so what is this “bada bing” term???
Vive la France a Brooklyn ! On trouve ca absolutement superbe et cool:)
DIBS what is your problem dude? “French is a very useful language globally these days; ahead of Mandarin and Spanish”.
Pourquoi c’est dommage? Are you being prejudice or are we missing something? Too much to drink over the weekend?
Don’t want to say too much until we see your “reasoning”.
French is a very useful language globally these days; ahead of Mandarin and Spanish.
Carroll Gardens and Cobble hill have a lot of french families in the area. No need to say PS58 is a very good school.
It’s funny that the picture with the post is of Provence en Boite, which is probably the worst french restaurant on Smith. Wait, is funny the right word?
^^^^ then ’09 will be the year CG opens its doors to the welcome takeover by the Crown Hts/Prospects Hts. infantry.
If CG is becoming more French, Crown Heights and Prospect Heights is becoming more German. I know of 6 German or half German couples with children in these areas alone. And these are the ones that I know, I’ve heard there are many more…..
im sorry but all i can say is barf.
