oh, and there were about a half dozen houses on the block that were boarded up and/or abandoned.
Beautiful, varied housing stock, though.
I walked by the house on Dean St. this weekend. There was no open house — the broker won’t have keys until later this week.
The front exterior is really rough. The garden floor windows are boarded up and the entrance below the stoop is non-existent. It will be interesting to see what the interior is like.
According to Property Shark, someone paid $1.2 million for this last year and there is an outstanding mortgage of $960K, currently in lis pendens. Hard to believe given the condition of the house and the proximity to the Armory on Atlantic Ave.
Anyone happen to see 1220 8th Ave in Park Slope? It’s listed with BHS.
My pleasure.
Way to go June 23 9:56 AM guest. 89 posts and finally one from somebody who actually went to see one the houses.
Saw the clinton hill house over the weekend. WE were really disappointed. we love these narrow houses with the center staircarse, but this house looked cheap. It had a cheap renovation, and some parts, like the tile in the 2nd floor bathroom that looked like it was a quick fix to sell it. It also appeared as though there was water damage in that room. Also the rental, which I initially assumed you could rent for $2k/month, was horrible. I’m sure they get about $1200 at most for it.
In addiiton its next to an abandoned building.
I think this house will sell, but the price needs to be closer to $1million.
when you add the taxes in the suburbs with the cost to upkeep 2 cars, insure them and keep them filled with gas, there is zero difference between the burbs and brooklyn.
trust me. we did it for 2 years and could not WAIT to get out of there! so nice to be back in a place where one can walk to shops and restaurants, take mass transit and see actual people.
we felt way too isolated out there.
7:13 — try N.W. Long Island – Port Washington – Great Neck, etc. Looks like CT, decent schools, prices 1/3-1/2 of BK. Same in the Oranges in the other direction.
Hello Brownstoner…are you there?
