The New York Post took a look inside McCarren Park Pool and reports some updates. Construction workers are doing exterior brickwork, cement work, and cleaning stone. Interior work and work on the steel staircase has just begun. The pool’s also been gutted and drilled for new pipes and electrical work. With construction one-third complete, the pool’s on schedule to reopen the summer of 2012. Awesome!

  1. Bloomberg was way too pro corporate development. That whole mess with the Atlantic yards is a perfect example.

He’d never win for president and would just guarantee whoever the GOP nominee was they would win and if they elect Palin as their nominee you think things are bad now…

  2. i can guaranteee you 99 percent of the people who will use this pool are the ones tapping the healthcare system. oh wait, u sorta just said that. the pool itself is awesome, but i dont dont like the way it’s gonna be managed. the reason the pool closed in the first place was that it was one giant ghetto fest and now it’s going to be the opposite, a giant moonface fest. there’s like zero common ground in this city, and that is dirty. and the only reason this pool IS being open is cuz that area of nyc is now moonfaceville. why wasnt it open in the 80s? or the 90s? oh that’s right. barf. when it does open ill be the first one to drop a giant turd in it.

  3. I dunno Rob, I kinda like him. He knows about money and respects religious and personal freedom. Yeah, it’s a little much with the no-smoking and no-transfats – but this is sorta like sound fiscal policy as most (but not all) smokers and fat people are the ones that tap the free healthcare available in NYC. [ducks for cover]

Didn’t realize you’ve been to Philly, DC & Boston. Sorry for the dig.

  4. ive been philly, dc, boston, and every city in nj. yes, nothing off the east coast.. not sure what your point is tho. i think bloomberg is a lame person. a freak actually. he is a billionaire! he’s in everyone’s business and he shouldnt be. i bet you cant smoke anywhere near this crotchfruit ghetto/moonface complex.

  5. Rob, it’s truly amazing that you can make such pronouncements having NEVER BEEN TO A CITY OUTSIDE OF NYC. (Newark and Jersey City notwithstanding)

  6. ew bloomberg destroyed nyc, you people are fucking nuts. a lame pool like this doesnt make a good city. enjoy swimming in crotchfruit piss.
