Longtime readers might remember us posting from Berlin when we were over here for a wedding a couple of summers ago. Well, we liked it so much, we’ve relocated for a month, house-sitting a friend’s apartment in Prenzlauer Berg. We’re still going to be blogging more or less full time, but if you want to follow along with our daily photos, check out our Tumblr blog.

  1. And Mr. B – by the end of your time in Germany,
    you may be able to tell us for sure:

    1. the truth about European vs. Brooklyn bike lanes 🙂 ha;

    2. whether Europe is the New Brooklyn – ha;

    3. or whether Brooklyn is the New Europe – ha 🙂

    I hope you and your family have a great time!

  2. Mr. B. – I like your photos on your Tumblr blog, the buildings and the façade close-ups. When I am on vacation I take photos of buildings, too. Someone said to me, buildings are so boring I only like to take pictures of people. Not, me, it is the other way around, buildings!

  3. Don’t know what the stats are, but we can confirm that Prenzlauerberg is crawling with babies. It’s also rather, ahem, homogeneous in the race department. Had dinner in Kreuzberg last night and that’s certainly much more diverse, as noted above.

  4. I shouldn’t say if – there IS a sizable population of Turks in Berlin but I just don’t know if they are there legally or not.

    Good weekend everyone!

  5. Yes, it is old, but I found some other articles much more recently which state the same after I posted that.

    In any event, it was made to seem as though my comment was outlandish and clearly it wasn’t, even if it doesn’t hold true today. And if there are are Turks illegally in the country then it would make sense that their birth rates go under or not reported.

    My information came from the German couple I was staying with, so maybe both they and the BBC have no idea what they’re talking about and musicmope is the expert on the most recent demographic data.

    Either way, there’s a lot of babies in Prenzlauer Berg.
