The “For Rent” sign is down at the landmark former Gage & Tollner space on the Fulton Mall, and ISJ Management, which controls the building, confirms that a lease has been signed for the property. An Arby’s opened in the spot early last year but shuttered about seven months later. We don’t have any specifics on who the new tenant is, though. Thoughts on what would work here?

  1. The new restaurant needs to have she-crab soup on the menu and sweet potato French fries served with powdered sugar.

    …nostalgic for Gage and Tollner.

  2. I like minard’s idea. The area has changed so much that I think such a place would be supported now. Gage and Tollner was a lovely place, very special.

  3. How about this? A nice tablecloth restaurant specializing in seafood and Cajun dishes. With a nice bar and maybe a lobster tank by the entrance? Oh, and the waiters should wear those long, French-style aprons and they could light the gas chandeliers every evening around sunset. That could work.
