Bed Stuy Brooklyn House for Sale -- 60 Monroe Street

This Bed Stuy one-family, at 60 Monroe Street, has a feature not often found in a Brooklyn townhouse — a double-height library, rising from the middle of the basement floor. Set above it, reachable via a floating staircase, is a second-floor kitchen, with exposed steel ceiling beams.

It makes for a distinctive home, and a fetching one in our view, though it’s not going to float everyone’s boat.

The listing, from Corcoran broker Tricialee Riley, leaves a bit to the imagination. There are only a handful of photos, and there’s no floor plan and not much description. It’s listed with three bedrooms and two baths.

The listing does say that it’s 20 feet wide and a legal two-family, set up as a one-family. The photos reveal a large deck, a lot of exposed brick and wood floors that are likely new.

It appears to have been in the hands of the same owner for more than a decade, and we’re guessing the remodel took place some time ago.  In any case, it’s doubtful the owners had flipping in mind.

The current ask: $1,600,000.

If your curiosity is sparked, note that there are open houses Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:30 and Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30. How do you like what you see?
