Can an owner sell a home that has asbestos and a room infected with mold “as is”?Or do they have to remove it?

  1. I heard from my mortgage lender that signs of mold had to be painted over before they would provide a mortgage, so keep that in mind. I would think that would be your only problem.

  2. Are you kidding? No one would ever be able to sell a house if there was a rule about fixing all the problems first. Relax. You may have to disclose problems you know about though. Ask your broker about the disclosure rules.

  3. Yes you can sell it. I just sold a home in NJ with mold in the basement. I was going to have it removed, but I made a deal with the buyer and he took care of it. But you may have an issue getting a C of O.
