crane
At about 9:30 on Friday morning, a crane at a worksite on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg lost a fight with the laws of physics, toppling over under the weight of its sheet-metal lode and miraculously not injuring anyone on the scene. According to some comments on Curbed, this particular site has been your run-of-the-mill nightmare for the past several months, prompting multiple calls to 311 by frustrated neighbors. Did any readers happen to pass by during the aftermath of the accident? What’s the status now?

  1. kewl, we got to bash hipsters and make anti-Semitic comments. my initial reaction, since I direct most of my hating towards my own kind, was that this looked like something you’d see in Freemont, in Seattle. couldn’t they have just left the truck where it was and built around it?

  2. you’re all wrong – this was another case of a developer being cheap and cutting corners. Instead of having a heavy weight crane on the site, they were using a lightweight portable vehicle and loading it beyond it’s capacity so it tipped! It seems to be impossible to build anything without damage or injury!!

  3. Actually – if you look closely you might see a Hasidic guy waiting near where the load was being Delivered.
He is the Owner and they were trying to deliver his ill gotten gains up to him when the Crane tipped from the weight of his wallet.

  4. Actually, hipsters were the cause of this tipster. They were slightly overweight as they forgot to leave their ipods at Gorilla Coffee. It’s part of their Community service for abusing their digital cameras capturing these moments as well overloading the 311 system
