Brooklyn resident Seth Kaufman just published the book If You Give an Architect a Contract…, a humorous, illustrated book about home renovation in the spirit of the popular children’s book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.” Kaufman told The New York Times he was inspired by the countless renovation stories he heard around Brooklyn. The tale begins with handing over the keys to the architect but, as the Times recounts, “the reader is immersed in a nightmare of delays, unforeseen expenses and indifferent contractors.” Kaufman did acknowledge that the book could easily be written from the architect’s perspective, instead of the homeowners’ — any architects out there willing to step up to the plate?
