Brooklyn Public Library Adds Weekend Hours at All Branches

    by

Thanks to a $12,000,000 budget increase from Mayor de Blasio and the City Council, all 60 Brooklyn Public Library branches will begin staying open at least six days a week.

Presently, 80 percent of Brooklyn’s libraries have weekend hours, but beginning later this month the rest will catch up, a BPL spokeswoman told DNAinfo.

It’s unclear whether branches will be adding Saturday or Sunday hours.

For a complete list of BPL’s branches, and to find the library nearest you, see their site for hours and locations. Presumably, it will be updated to reflect hourly changes once they are implemented.

This month’s expansion comes just over a year after an expansion in September 2014, when two-thirds of branches began offering six- and seven-day service.
