    by

BRIC, the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, is bringing fantastic new opportunities for creativity and voice to Coney Island and the surrounding community!

After two years of planning and hard work, BRIC’s Brooklyn Free Speech has launched its new, state-of-the-art television studio at the Coney Island Library. This partnership with the Brooklyn Public Library will provide Brooklynites access to up-to-the-minute video technology, a range of free and low-cost classes, and the opportunity for having the programs they create cablecast throughout Brooklyn.

In this digital age, anyone who wants to have a voice in our society needs access to communications training and equipment. Together, BRIC and the BPL provide education courses to nearly 2,000 Brooklyn residents every year. Since its renovation after Hurricane Sandy, the Coney Island Library has become a major community resource. By teaming up with BRIC, the library becomes a place where residents can get hands-on experience with the very latest in video production technology.

The BRIC Studio is set up with cutting-edge equipment that includes Panasonic HD cameras, lighting, audio, a TriCaster switcher, and a comprehensive graphics package.

BRIC is also offering a number of exciting courses taught by professional media instructors this summer. Television Studio Production is an intensive, introductory course that gives participants a chance to get certified as Community Producers, entitled to free use of the television studio.

Video Production in the Field gets both novice and seasoned filmmakers out and about in Coney Island with professional-grade video equipment.

Digital Camera Basics teaches the creation of beautiful video projects by composing from still photos.

DIY Stop-Motion Animation students create amazing short animated videos in just two hours— and all work produced in classes or in the studio can be shown, free of charge, on Brooklyn Free Speech TV channels and on the web!

BRIC and the BPL have teamed up to give residents of Park Slope, East New York, Midwood, and now Coney Island free equipment and video production facilities at satellite locations.

Whether you are a professional looking for a refresher course, or a novice eager to learn something new, this Brooklyn partnership is a great place to open some digital doors.
