Brooklyn Open Houses: Park Slope, Carroll Gardens

Our open house picks this weekend are all renovated with a modern slant — no creaky-floored construction projects. They include brownstones in Park Slope and Bed Stuy, a modern brick house that looks recently built in Carroll Gardens, and a narrow row house in Windsor Terrace.

The Carroll Gardens home is on Hoyt Street between Degraw and Sackett. A three-story one-family with a finished basement, it’s got windows on three sides and all kinds of space, including a lovely rooftop deck with a small second kitchen with Henrybuilt cabinets. (Note: It comes billed as “an entire home for less than you’d pay for a condominium!” — an odd claim to make for a place with a  $2,995,000 price tag.)

On Hancock Street in Stuyvesant Heights we’ve got what looks to be a flip job, thoroughly renovated and not too shabbily, with new plumbing and electrical. At three stories, it’s got a three-bedroom duplex with a garden rental.

The former features an open plan parlor floor with a veritable wall of glass at the rear, leading out to an ipe deck with steel rails.

On 4th Street in Park Slope is easily the most traditional of the bunch — a three-story bay-front brownstone with original details, including carved fretwork, three fireplaces, pocket doors, wide plank floors, moldings and some striking light fixtures.

Kitchen and baths are modern. Lots of rooms to play with in this one, including four bedrooms, a triple parlor, a sitting room, a dressing room and a family room.

Last up, on East 2nd Street in Windsor Terrace is a 16-footer with two stories and a finished basement. It’s no jaw-dropper, but it’s all newly renovated, with an open-plan living room/kitchen and three bedrooms above.
