Here’s a spacious three-bedroom, two-bath pad in Crown Heights, near the Prospect Heights border. The 1,500-square-foot apartment has an updated kitchen with a dishwasher and plenty of cabinets. The living area seems nicely sized, but the bedrooms look a little small. What are your thoughts on it for $3,100 a month — or $3,400 including a washer and dryer?

  1. I live nearby. The church next door to this building rents out its space for intense parties –many during the work week– that go late and are very loud. Beware.

    • Yes, the church/party hall can be problematic although, believe it or not, things have calmed down from where they once were. Before, neighbors had to deal with shootings related to parties at the church/party hall; that hasn’t happened in a while. But, then again, this block used to be home to Kings Court, which was even more problematic. I am not alone in hoping that this church is soon sold and knocked down/rebuilt as housing.

  2. Though this block will always be Prospect Heights to me, this price is a bit much. And, like others have written, a $300 premium for washer and dryer? What are the owners thinking? If I really wanted to wash and dry at home, I’d buy those cheap (but rather durable) units from Walmart and save $2,000 for the year. And, if that doesn’t work, I’l haul my butt to the laundromat on Grand Avenue (near the special precinct).

  3. There is no way; unless it occupies two floors that this is 1500 sq ft. As a one floor through apartment – the public hallway space it is perhaps 1,000 sq ft. Hardly a spacious 3BR 2 bth apartment.
Where the washer & dryer at any price would fit is difficult to imagine.
But the $300.00 per month premium for a new washer & dryer is about right if it a 3BR. Cost of buying, maintaining and the water & sewer bills for when the 3 roommates have their buddies over to do their laundry while they are hanging out. NUTS! put a coin operated washer dryer in the basement.
