The Upstater: Renting Woodstock

When it comes to rentals in Ulster County, the selection doesn’t get much better than Woodstock. Every time we browse around town, we almost always find something unique and picturesque, and we frequently find places walking distance to town or near the Trailways Bus stop, making Woodstock a great option for car-free living. And if you are arriving by car, Woodstock is approximately two hours from Brooklyn. Here are three rentals that caught our eye this week:

From the looks of it on GMAP, 53 Easton Lane seems private. Located at the end of a dead-end street, just down the road from the Woodstock School of Art, this two-bed, two-bath, 1,500-square-foot farmhouse can be rented for $2,200 a month during June, July or August, or for the entire summer season for $15,000. Lot size is a roomy 4.7 acres.

Talk about a great location. For the uninitiated, the Mill Stream swimming hole is the place to swim in Woodstock when the weather turns roasty, and this cottage is practically right on top of it. It’s also situated on a half-acre walking distance to town and includes a walk-up attic space. Beds: Two. Baths: One. Square Feet: 1,238. Rent: $1,650.

Here’s another rental walking distance to town, and it’s super close to the Trailways bus station. It’s wee, for sure: Only 927 square feet, but it’s quite a bargain since you can rent it for the entire summer for $7,000 (remember, the first one we looked at rents for $15,000 a summer). Lot size is less than a half-acre, but considering its great location, we’re willing to overlook it. Beds: two. Baths: one. Rent: $1,400 per month.
