Gowanus Open Studios
The 2012 Gowanus Open Studios will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14, from 12 noon to 6 pm. Visitors to open studios participate in a give and take, engaging with working artists one-on-one in the intimacy of their studios where you can buy art, experience Brooklyn’s contemporary visual culture, see the creative process, discuss method, and be part of an environment in which art is created.

Bird River Studios Opening Launch Party
Come on over to Bird River in Williamsburg to help kick off their fall launch on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 pm. Bring friends, it’s a party…343 Grand Street, between Marcy Avenue and Havemeyer Street.

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
Smorgasburg is now at its second weekly location in Brooklyn Bridge Park, at the historic Tobacco Warehouse in Dumbo. It’ll be open every Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm through Nov. 18. Of course, on Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Avenue (between Clermont and Vanderbilt avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue and the East River). Saturday at the Williamsburg location is also the home of our all-food market, Smorgasburg. The Flea features over 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry and amazing food. Flea: Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Smorg: Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. Free.

Park Slope Fall Civic Sweep
Saturday, Oct. 13, 10 am to 2 pm on Fifth Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets in front of Old Stone House and J.J. Byrne Playground. Pick up litter, weed tree beds and mulch trees. Also bring unwanted clothing and textiles for recycling by Wearable Collections.

P.S. 11 Book Sale
The 3rd annual P.S. 11 book sale is this Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm in the school yard on Washington Between Greene and Gates. Thousands of cheap books for children and adults. Bring your donations the day of the sale!
