House of the Day: 377 Union Street

This Carroll Gardens Italianate at 377 Union Street has all the bells and whistles of the period, including pier mirrors, classic arched marble mantles, etched glass pocket doors, and inlaid parquet floors. Newer upgrades include a parlor floor kitchen, wood-paneled bar in the cellar, a jacuzzi, and an interior circular stair. Set up as an owner’s triplex over a rental, it’s 22 feet wide and four stories tall. For $2,995,000, do you like it?

Loathe the finishes. Not a fan of gold leaf moldings round the window/mirror, and anytime I see gold fixtures in a bathroom I think of Tony Montana.

I have a mental image of DiBS standing up in that jacuzzi to shout:

“SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!”

boerumhill: First of all I’d never have a corner jacuzzi like that. And yes, the gold finishes and the kitchen really aren’t my taste at all.

Thirdly, I get no compalints on the size thing. Projecting???

  • That gold leaf and jacuzzi is easy to fix. Seems like a great house to me overall, but not getting why there’s an interior spiral staircase, and a “master bathroom” off the kitchen?

I would get rid of the stairs, and change the parlor bath to a sunroom. Also, on top floor change “Den” to a master bath and “Room”+Bath to walk in closet.
