$575,000 is a lot for a one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn but this one at 145 Hicks Street is has a lot more going for it than most: prewar, doorman, dining area, top-floor, etc. The kitchen feels a little tired (but its got its own window!). The living room and bedrooms are both quite large and come with lots of closets. The maintenance is $957, about what you would expect for an 800-square-foot apartment in a full-service building.

  1. Perfectly nice apartment, priced to sell, not to fish.
This is the building where the giant American elm was knocked over by Hurricane Irene. It took down a part of the front garden wall.
