When 46 Willow Street hit the market in February with an asking price of $4,000,000 (here’s the House of the Day post) we said we thought the sellers would get their price. Turns out they didn’t but not by too much in the grand scheme of things: The five-story brick house closed a couple of weeks ago for $3,800,000 after going into contract in late March. For what it’s worth, when we rode by this week to take this photo it looked like the place could probably use some work.

  1. the tenants at 100 Clark Street were not elderly either. Remember how they were persuaded to move? By the police, five minutes before the City started demolishing the house with a giant crane. They are still suing the owner to rebuild the house so they can go back in.

  2. it is next to impossible to evict long-term tenants in Brooklyn Heights against their will -whether they are rent regulated or not. Especially older people. The courts just won’t do it. It is very difficult to convince someone set in their ways to accept a buy out or to relocate. Sometimes you luck out, but usually, especially in Brooklyn Heights, you hit a brick wall.
