muni-meter-112409.jpgPark Slope is really moving up in the world. Sections of the neighborhood’s most commercial avenues are scheduled to have their old single meters replaced by the more modern muni-meters. The affected areas include Fifth Avenue between Sackett and 3rd Streets and Seventh Avenue between Lincoln Place and 6th Street. The change is part of a pilot program from DOT to test variable meter pricing to coincide with periods of greater demand: From 12 to 4 pm on Mondays through Saturdays, the rate with be $1.50 per hour; the rest of the time, the rate will be $0.75 per hour. Sounds logical.

  1. highway robbery.
leave the old meters alone they worked all these years.

stop using our tax payer money for updated stuff which we do not need.

  2. muni meters suck because unlike the old timey meters you can’t get a broken one and you can’t use someone’s leftover time plus those nazi meter readers will write you a ticket while you are at the machine paying for your parking!
