muni-meter-112409.jpgPark Slope is really moving up in the world. Sections of the neighborhood’s most commercial avenues are scheduled to have their old single meters replaced by the more modern muni-meters. The affected areas include Fifth Avenue between Sackett and 3rd Streets and Seventh Avenue between Lincoln Place and 6th Street. The change is part of a pilot program from DOT to test variable meter pricing to coincide with periods of greater demand: From 12 to 4 pm on Mondays through Saturdays, the rate with be $1.50 per hour; the rest of the time, the rate will be $0.75 per hour. Sounds logical.

  1. muni meters suck because unlike the old timey meters you can’t get a broken one and you can’t use someone’s leftover time plus those nazi meter readers will write you a ticket while you are at the machine paying for your parking!
