The LAM Group’s pair of Gene Kaufmann-designed hotels at 222 Duffield Street is finally showing some visible signs of progress. The 500-room complex, which will be split into a Sheraton and an Aloft, will be competing against the 22-story, Karl Fischer-designed hotel just across the street. It’ll have a head-start though: An old sneaker store is still sitting on the site where the Fischer creation is slated to rise.
